2026 FIVB Men's Club World Championship: Perugia Defend Crown Against Global Challenge

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has officially announced the list of 8 teams participating in the 2026 Men's Volleyball Club World Championship, to be held in Poland. This is the first time the prestigious tournament is hosted on Polish soil, promising a top-level competition with champions from four continents. Leading the list is defending champion Sir Sicoma Perugia of Italy. Perugia not only retained the title last year but also won the CEV Champions League in the recent season. Their squad is considered the strongest in the tournament, featuring top stars such as wing spiker Oleh Plotnytskyi and setter Simone Giannelli, along with many other internationals. Perugia is the number one favorite for the championship. The most decorated team in the tournament is Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei from Brazil, with 5 world titles. Although no longer at their peak, Sada remains a formidable force thanks to disciplined play and vast experience. They have often caused upsets against European teams. Asia's representative this year draws attention with Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi of Indonesia. This is the first time an Indonesian men's volleyball club has qualified for this tournament after winning the AVC Men's Champions League. This is considered a historic milestone for Indonesian volleyball. Also from Asia is Foolad Sirjan of Iran, the 2026 Asian champion, promising a fast, technical style characteristic of West Asian volleyball. Europe also has a new representative: Ziraat Bankası Istanbul of Turkey. This is the first time a Turkish team participates in the world championship, after finishing runner-up in the CEV Champions League. With strong investment, Ziraat is expected to cause trouble for the giants. South America, besides Sada, includes Vôlei Renata of Brazil – runner-up of the CSV Club Championship. This team has a balanced squad and has caused many surprises in international tournaments. Africa is represented by Al Ahly of Egypt, champion of the CAVB Club Championship. Al Ahly is the most successful club in Africa and regularly participates in world tournaments, known for physical play and high fighting spirit. The organizers also confirmed that Poland will host both 2026 and 2027. Detailed competition format, schedule, and ticket information will be announced in due course. With a diversity of styles from four continents, this year's tournament promises spectacular matches for volleyball fans worldwide. According to experts, Perugia remains the strongest team, but Sada Cruzeiro can certainly spring a surprise if they leverage their experience. First-time participants like Jakarta and Ziraat will face major challenges in terms of travel distance and class differences, but it is also an opportunity for them to learn and develop. All eyes will be on Poland in late 2026, where the world men's volleyball champion will be determined.
